Data collection

 

In our efforts to evaluate sustainability in the MICE landscape (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions), we contacted numerous companies from the catering, events and hotel sectors in Bremerhaven. The completed questionnaires returned by the tourism service providers formed the basis for the evaluation and presentation on the website.

Methodology of quantification:

Our central question was: "How sustainable is your company?" The answer proved to be complex and multi-layered. The following methodology was used to create a uniform rating from the different answers:

  1. Binary system for simple questions: the basic motto was "fulfilled or not fulfilled". Simple questions were therefore given a binary rating system.
  2. Percentage rating for listings: For listings with multiple points, we applied a percentage rating. For example, if three out of four points were fulfilled, this resulted in a score of 75%.
  3. Additional points for free fields: Free fields in the questionnaires that went beyond the original scope were scored as additional points. This reflects the company's commitment beyond the specified criteria.
  4. Category percentage aggregation: The percentage scores were aggregated for different categories. Additional points were added to create a comprehensive final score.

 

Results: 

The entire evaluation is based on self-reporting by the companies; Erlebnis Bremerhaven GmbH did not carry out a review.

The results are presented in the respective categories "Gastronomy, Events and Hotels" with a presentation of the TOP 5 companies and other sustainable businesses. This provides a comprehensive overview of the sustainability performance of the participating companies in the MICE landscape. We have deliberately refrained from defining a points system in advance in order to guarantee the impartiality of the results.

Our assessment methodology not only enables a differentiated analysis of sustainability efforts, but also a transparent presentation for companies to identify their strengths and areas for improvement.

With these results, we aim to contribute to the promotion of sustainability in the MICE landscape and encourage companies to further intensify their efforts.

The data will be updated every two years using the survey methodology and analysis described above. Status 2023.
